Adrian Macéus was 12 years old (D.O.B. = 3-May-2005) when he debuted as Billy in the Stockholm production of BETM.
Adrian first auditioned in 2015 to be a part of the Malmö production of BETM. Adrian says that he was very nervous as it was his first ever audition, and he had not danced before. Going into the audition his strongest attribute was his singing. He clearly impressed the audition panel, as he was chosen as one of 16 boys to undergo training at the Billy School at Base23 in Stockholm, before final auditions for the show. This was the first time Adrian had taken dance classes, and through the Billy School he was trained in ballet, tap and jazz.
Unfortunately, Adrian was not chosen for the Malmö show, but this didn’t stop him from chasing his dreams. Adrian kept working at his dancing and in 2016 received the great news that he had been cast as one of the three Michaels for when the show reopened in Stockholm in 2017.
Adrian performed as Michael from February to June 2017, before the show took a summer break. It was then announced that Adrian had been promoted to the lead role of Billy for the shows after the summer break. This is Adrian’s well-deserved reward for all his hard work, as for the past two years he has trained in singing, dancing, acting and acrobatics for 20 hours a week.

Past performance experience for Adrian includes playing the role of ‘Trull’ in Park Theatre’s production of Trollflute in 2016, and performing with the Polish Theatre Society in Sweden. Adrian also does voice work for film and television, including being the voice of ‘Tim’ in the movie The Cat in the Hat. In April 2016 Adrian passed the entrance test to gain a place at the Swedish Royal Ballet School.
Like Billy, Adrian is happy to just be himself and not worry about what other people think. He says, “I’ve got the feeling that people might not think that ballet is cool – that there are girls dancing ballet. But I do what I think is fun and continues my dream.”
Adrian’s debut as Billy Elliot on 22-Aug-2017 makes him the 212th actor to play the role worldwide in a professional, regional, or community theatre production of BETM.
