Petr Batěk Jr. made his debut as Billy in the Czech production of BETM in Pilsen. Petr is one of two young actors who are the third pair to take on the lead role of Billy Elliot since the production opened four years prior in May 2019.
Petr is a native of Pilsen and he comes from a family of musicians and actors. His father, Petr Batěk Senior, is an actor and has appeared in numerous films and TV series. Petr studies at the multi-year gymnasium in Plasy, and has been singing in the Jéčko choir since the age of six.
Outside of performing, Petr likes animals, mountains, skiing and swimming. He also speaks fluent English and is learning Italian.
Like the other new boys (Robin Beneš, who will also play Billy, and Matyáš Holman, who will play Michael) he has been preparing for the role for several months. Not only will this be Petr’s debut performance as Billy Elliot, but it will in fact be his very first performance on stage.
Petr’s debut performance as Billy on 25-Feb-2023 makes him the 331st young actor worldwide to play the role in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
