A production of Billy Elliot The Musical (BETM) was presented at the Thomaston Opera House, in Thomaston, Connecticut, by the Landmark Community Theatre, from July 9-24, 2016.
The 520 seat Thomaston Opera House was built in 1884. It was used as a venue for theatrical performances and social events until the 1930s, when it was converted for a time into a movie house. Today, under an agreement with the town of Thomaston, it is managed by the Landmark Community Theatre and serves as a cultural and recreational center for the town and surrounding communities.
The Landmark Community Theatre organization produces five MainStage productions each year utilizing local artists and production staff. Some recent past shows have included Annie, Chicago, Sister Act, Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins and The Music Man.
As that summer’s major musical, BETM featured a cast of 28. It was led by a young man debuting in the title role at the Thomaston Opera House — Charles Pelletier.
