Zac Wardrop of Wattle Grove, near South-West Sydney, Australia, where he resides with his father Steve, mother Fiona and brothers Jacob and Adam. He was 14 years old (d.o.b ?-Aug-2011) when he debuted as Billy Elliot in the Campbelltown production.
Zac’s performance training has come at Nadia’s Performance Studio, in Wetherill Park, Australia. There he has studied dance (jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical contemporary and hip hop) as well as receiving acting and vocal training. The studio offers full musical theatre preparation and competiton pathways. Zac has participated in ADA jazz dance competitions and recitals with the studio.
Zac also participates in Fantasia Showstoppers, which is a youth-focused community theatre company based in the Western Sydney area. It offers classes (singing, dancing, acting), workshops and productions for ages 5-21.
This combination of training (local studio + larger youth company) has built Zac’s all-around skills in dance, singing and stage presence.
Previous performance experiences have included:
- The Lion King Jr. (Sep/Oct 2023 – Fantasia Showstoppers – played the role of Young Simba)
- Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS (Dec 2023 – Fantasia Showstoppers – played the role of Mowgli)
He has also competed in dance events including Australasian Dance Association (ADA) jazz competitions as well as competitions/recitals via Nadia’s Performance Studio.
Billy Elliot The Musical
On July 2, 2025, it was announced that auditions would be held in the Fall of 2025 for the 2026 Campbelltown production of BETM and that Information Packs for those interested in auditioning would be available on September 1, 2025. Zac’s dad saw the announcement and wanted him to go for the role. He auditioned in person and got the call a week later to say he had the part. In the six months of rehearsals since, he has really made the part his own.
With his debut, Zac becomes the 393rd performer to bring the role of Billy Elliot to life on stage in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
