
The classic Billy Elliot the Musical, produced by Seensee Company, returns for the first time in five years. Performances run from April 12 to July 26 2026 at Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall in Yongsan District, Seoul.
Having already proven its artistic and box-office power through three previous Seoul runs (2010/11, 2017/18, 2021/22), this will be the fourth Korean production of the show, all produced by the Seensee Company.
As with every previous Korean production, everything started with an intense year-long audition and training process. From September 2024, three rounds of auditions plus the unique “Billy School” program narrowed down hundreds of hopefuls. Director Stephen Daldry once compared playing Billy to “running a marathon while performing Hamlet” — and this production demanded exactly that stamina.
A notable feature of the finding of the performers for this arduous role is the systematic child actor training system called ‘Billy School’. ‘Billy School’ is a program that directly teaches child actors dance and singing, selecting and nurturing candidates for the roles. The nurturing part is a process through which the philosophy of the production is embodied.
After over a year from the start of the audition process for this production, on December 9 2025, four boys were officially chosen from 240 original auditionees and after completing Billy School:
