For the first time in BETM history, in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical, the title character in the Theatre on Main Street show in Cornwall, New York will played by a female. Her name is Emma Schupner.
Emma is a product of the Newburgh (NY) Enlarged City School District, which encompasses all of the City of Newburgh, and most of the Towns of Newburgh and New Windsor. She attends Heritage Middle School in New Windsor and has appeared in several musicals there, including most recently in High School Musical and Lion King Junior.
Emma’s dance training has been at the Step by Step Dance Studio in Cornwall-on-Hudson, where she has performed in many recitals.
With her debut, Emma becomes the 347th performer in the world to bring the role of Billy Elliot to life on a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
