Meet the Pure Ballet Billy: Kim Woo-jin
Eleven-year-old Kim Woo-jin (김우진) has trained at a ballet academy since the age of four. He has been described in Korean media as the purest classical ballet dancer of the four boys cast in Billy Elliot the Musical Seoul 2026. Woo-jin has said it has long been his dream to play Billy Elliot on stage, and he is using his strong classical ballet foundation to make that dream come true.
In this video clip, Woo-jin is seen rehearsing the iconic “Dream Ballet” sequence with Older Billy, Lim Sun-woo, who originally played Billy in the very first South Korean production back in 2010.

During an interview with Wee Magazine before the production opened, Woo-jin was asked the question Billy is asked in the show: “What does it feel like when you’re dancing?” Woo-jin’s reply: When the music and the movements match perfectly, my heart feels like it’s going to explode.”
When Kim Woo-jin steps onto the stage as Billy Elliot in April 2026, he will become one of the young performers to star in the lead role in a professional production of the musical. With his pure ballet technique and lifelong passion, this 11-year-old is ready to deliver a Dream Ballet that fans will never forget.
