In Campbelltown, Lachlan Stirling will rotate in the lead role of Billy Elliot with another performer. Lachlan resides in Kareela, a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. He is a year 8 student, has two brothers, and enjoys sports and video games. This will be Lachlan’s second time playing Billy in BETM. His first appearance was in the October 2024 Engadine Musical Society‘s production of the musical, where he also shared the role of Billy with another performer. He did five performances as Billy then. When he first debuted in Engadine, he became the 364th performer to bring the role of Billy to life on stage in a professional, regional, or musical theatre production of the musical.
At the time of his initial debut in Engadine, Lachlan was a year 6 student. Lachlan’s performance studies have been across multiple disciplines at local studios and with private coaches, including:
- He had studied dance at KRS Dance, at their facilities in Kirrawee & Engadine.
- He also took vocal training with Laura Garrick
- He’s had acting lessons with John Posey at the Hollywood Initiative.
- Lachlan has also studied musical theatre with Musical Makers Club.
Lachlan has related that his love of musicals began when he saw Hugh Jackman live on stage. He has said he aspires to emulate Jackman’s career and hopes to perform in the West End or Hollywood in the future.

Lachlan has loved the opportunity to play Billy Elliot twice now. He says he’s enjoyed every aspect of it, from his first audition in Engadine, to learning the complex dance routines, and even learning to speak (and even swear) in a Geordie accent.
