Leo Lemmerich was 13 years old (20-May-2011) when he debuted as Billy in the Zurich production of BETM. He is from Frauenfeld.
Leo has been dancing for nine years. He trains for around five hours per week. Leo’s main dance style has been Latin dance, with his training being at Teen Dance Club. He competes in Dancesport (competitive ballroom and latin dancing). Recently, with his partner Laura Tomasik, Leo won a bronze medal at the Swiss Latin Championships. During the pandemic, Leo first become interested in ballet alongside his Latin dancing. It has been hard to balance Latin training with preparations for BETM, as the latter has been so demanding.
As soon as Leo saw the film Billy Elliot for the first time, it was clear that this was his new favourite film. Fascinated by Billy Elliot’s story and encouraged by his dance teachers and family members, Leo signed up for the casting and was successfully cast in the lead role of Billy.
As he has never performed in a stage production before, BETM will be a new experience for Leo.

With his debut performance as Billy on 2-Nov-2024, Leo becomes the 367th young actor worldwide to play the role in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
