Note:  Lucio Scavino will be appearing as Billy in Billy Elliot the Musical (BETM) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, presented by Teatro Ópera, from May 27 to June 15, 2026.

Debut: TBD

Total Performances as Billy to Date:  0 (As of 31-May-2026)

Fifteen year old Lucio Scavino is from the city of Buenos Aires.

Lucio comes from a classical ballet background, training at the Escuela del Teatro Colón, Cirelli Ballet Studio and  Escuela Aida Mastrazzi. He started ballet about the age of three after watching it on TV.  Lucio talks openly about having suffered bullying in his former primary school because he was a boy who danced.  Now, since moving to the Escuela del Teatro Colón, a school more oriented to the arts, the bullying has mostly disappeared and says he no longer pays attention to such prejudices.  Lucio names Marianela Nunez, an Argentine principal dancer at the Royal Ballet in London, as one of his main idols.  He says he tries to see her at the Colón whenever she performs there.

As far as music that Lucio enjoys listening to, he says, “I really like pop music. I listen to Madonna, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande– they are my role models”.

When asked what his audition experience was like, Lucio replied, “My mom suggested I audition just to see what would happen, and at first I told her no because I didn’t feel confident enough. I kept telling myself ‘I’m dedicated to classical dance; I don’t know if I could handle a musical.’  In the end, I mustered the courage, sent in the video and got in.”

If Lucio was surprised that he made the cut after auditions, he was even more thrilled that he got named as one of the Billys in the cast. He stated, “When they told me, at first I couldn’t believe it; I thought they were playing a prank on me. But when they confirmed it, I said ‘Woooow!  I hadn’t even been even sure if I was cut out for the Training School — and now I’m in a musical!  It’s something I never even imagined.”

Any prior stage experience Lucio has has come via dance competitions and recitals.  His debut as Billy at Teatro Ópera will mark his musical theatre debut as well.

Regarding his future, Lucio says, “I would love to be able to make a living doing what I love — which is dance — to become a professional dancer.”
