Nat Sweeney (Billy) in Billy Elliot the MusicalHe got his dance training prior to BETM, beginning at the age of four, at the Sparkles School of Dance and is a Junior Associate with Elmhurst School of Dance, both located in Birmingham. He is also an accomplished gymnast, having won won numerous competitions while doing his gymastics training with the Revolution Gym Club, also in Birmingham.

His debut as Billy is also his West End debut, but Nat has prior stage experience, dancing at Mardi Gras Dance at Sadler’s Wells, having appeared in Chance 2 Dance at the Birmingham Hippodrome, and most recently in Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies at the Birmingham Hippodrome in May of 2014.

It was soon after the latter production that Nat auditioned for Billy Elliot. He was chosen to attend a summer school for potential Billys and in September 2014 was offered the part of Billy. He’s has been in London since, training for this most exciting debut and hugely challenging role.

Nat says his favorite part of BETM is Expressing Yourself as it’s lots of fun to do.

In this video clip, Nat introduces himself and relates a bit about what his journey has been like to Be Billy.  There’s also some great video footage of Nat in rehearsal.  It’s very obvious that his dance and gymnastic skills are outstanding.
