Rohan Green was 13 years old (born 19-Feb-2013) when he debuted as Billy Elliot in the Woods-Ray Theatricals production of the musical. He is a rising young musical theatre talent from the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia (Dapto/Wollongong area). Rohan’s early education was at St. John’s Catholic Primary School. He’s currently in his first year of high school at the Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts, in Fairy Meadow.
His performance training has mainly been at the Southern Lights Vocal Academy, where in December Rohan was awarded the Academy’s The Junior DUX award for 2025, acknowledging outstanding achievement or excellence in music.
Some of Rohan’s dance training has been at the Joanne Grace School of Dance, where he has studied a variety of dance forms, including ballet. In the past, Rohan has danced in the Australian Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker.
Prior to BETM, Rohan’s most recent stage appearance was as Bruce in the Protege Project‘s production of Matilda, Jr.

And, as soon as he finishes with Billy Elliot, Rohan is already scheduled to perform in the Arcadians Theatre Group production of Newsies Jr., playing the role of Albert, from April 29 to May 3, 2026
Billy Elliot The Musical
Woods-Ray Theatricals ran auditions for BETM in late 2025. They accepted video submissions plus held a live audition day with callbacks. The creative team (Director Suzi Villeneuve-Smith, Choreographers Peta Bennett & Ella Clout, Music Director/Producer Liam Woods) made “tough decisions” from a strong field of local kids.
In addition to Rohan’s recent performances listed above, he had also auditioned and gotten the role of one of the Wickersham Brothers in Woods-Ray Theatricals’ January 16-19, 2025, production of Seussical Jr. This role familiarised him with the company’s audition and rehearsal process ahead of Billy Elliot.
He obviously made a good impression on the creative team at Woods-Ray Theatricals, as on December 21, 2025, the cast for BETM was announced, with Rohan being cast in the lead role of Billy Elliot.
Rehearsals began shortly after casting and were already “in full swing” by mid-February 2026.
With his debut as Billy Elliot, Rohan becomes the 388th performer to bring the role to life on stage in a professional, regional, or community theatre production of the musical.
