A production of Billy Elliot The Musical (BETM) will be presented by Woods-Ray Theatricals at the Wollongong High School Performing Arts Centre from April 9-12, 2026.
Woods-Ray Theatricals Inc. is a community musical theatre organisation, founded in 2015 by Liam Woods, to create a new platform for budding creatives and performers to get involved in community theatre. Mr Woods continues to lead the group as President to this day. The organisation, Woods-Ray Theatricals Inc., is a not-for-profit community musical theatre company located in the Illawarra, one hour south of Sydney.
Woods-Ray Theatricals is now a thriving part of the region’s musical theatre scene, engaging over 100 local theatre makers every year. Woods-Ray presents three shows each year, each catering to a different age group and audience. It has presented over 20 shows since 2015, including Disney’s Frozen Jr., Shrek The Musical, Carrie, The Addams Family, Bare: A Pop Opera, Disney’s Newsies Jr., and The Producers. Billy Elliot The Musical
The first round of auditions for BETM for the Children’s Roles was via video audition. The Video Submissions round was open to all young performers who are auditioning for the roles of Billy, Michael, Debbie, and the Ballet Girls. Submissions for the Children’s Roles closed at 10 pm on Friday, December 2025.
Auditionees who were successful in the video round were notified via email by Sunday, December 7. Those successful candidates were required to prepare additional materials and attend an in-person callback on either Saturday, December 13, or Sunday, December 14. The adult role audition followed a similar process. All candidates for roles were notified by email after the in-person round of auditions.
When the casting for the show was complete, a cast of 28 was announced on December 21, 2025. The cast would be led by Rohan Green as Billy Elliot. Rehearsals for the show began just after the first of the new year (2026).
