Ryan is an experienced dancer, having had training in a wide variety of styles – Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theater. He has also taken tumbling classes. He has also been a member of DanceMotion Performing Company for four years, with whom he regularly competes in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary categories in small and large groups. Ryan can be seen performing his award-winning tap routine to Crazy Little Thing Called Love at the Rainbow National Dance Competition in Phoenix here.
In addition to his dance training, Ryan has been taking piano lesson for five years and recently started taking classes in Musical Theater Performance.
Ryan’s previous performing experience includes:
- ‘Flotsam’ in Bender Performing Art’s production of Little Mermaid Jr. (Dec 2016)
- Ensemble member in Tap 24.7’s Annual Tap Show (May 2014, 2015 & 2016)
The head of the ballet department at Bender Performing Arts was familiar with Mesa Encore Theatre and, after hearing that they were putting on a production of BETM, encouraged Ryan to audition for the lead role. This was clearly a great recommendation as Ryan went on to successfully win the coveted role.
Since January, Ryan has been working very hard to prepare for opening night, with rehearsals four to six days a week. When he steps on stage at the opening night show on 10-Mar-2017 Ryan will become the 191st actor worldwide to play the role of Billy Elliot.
