Spencer Collins was named to play Billy after a long audition and training process that took him from his home in Los Angeles, California in the United States, where he lives with his parents and two brothers — one older and the other his twin. He’s the only one of the four boys named to play Billy not from the UK. At 13 years old, he’s also the eldest of the four. Spencer’s dad, Nick, is a partner at the Gersh Agency, which does talent representation.
At the age of 5, Spencer’s mother took him to see the Los Angeles Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker. Immediately after the curtain fell, he asked to sign up for ballet classes. Thus he started dancing at the Los Angeles Ballet Academy at age 5, where he continued classes until the age of 8. He joined Westside School of Ballet at age 9 and has trained there since under the guidance of Adrian Blake Mitchell. Spencer has competed on the YAGP (Youth America Grand Prix) circuit, notably winning the prestigious Hope Award at YAGP Finals in 2025, recognizing the top classical and contemporary performances among all dancers worldwide in his age category.

Besides performing, Spencer loves sushi, iced matcha lattes, listening to Sienna Spiro and his rescue pup Betty.
When he debuts in this production, Spencer becomes the (number) performer worldwide to bring the role of Billy alive in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
