Twin City Theatre Company in Champaign, Illinois presents a regional production of Billy Elliot the Musical (BETM) from Aug 25 to Sep 3, 2017, at The Harold and Jean Miner Theatre at Parkland College.
Twin City Theatre Company is a not for profit organization. It was founded in 2016 by Garth Gersten, John Tilford, Angela Marcum and Michael Galloway, meaning that 2017 is only their second season. The company performs plays and cabaret performances at SoDo Theatre in downtown Champaign, and musicals at Parkland College. Garth Gersten states the purpose of the company: “There are so many talented people in Central Illinois looking for and needing additional opportunities to perform. We hope to provide those opportunities.” Other productions besides BETM produced by Twin City Theatre Company in their 2017 season include Shotgun, Bleacher Bums and Waiting for Godot.
The Twin City Theatre Company production of BETM is being directed by none other than Donnie Kehr — a member of the original Broadway cast of BETM (Ensemble and understudy Dad). His other Broadway credits include Jersey Boys, The Who’s TOMMY and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. With Donnie at the helm, this is set to be a great production of BETM.
Starring in the lead role of Billy will be Tanner Carlson-Huber, a talented young local actor. To learn more about Tanner, click on the Billy Profiles button (below) to be taken to his detailed profile.
