The Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood, OH, will present a regional production of Billy Elliot the Musical (BETM) on the Mackey Main Stage, from July 8 to August 14, 2016. As is common for regional productions, the Mackey Main Stage will provide an intimate setting for this show, as it seats just 480 patrons.
The Beck Center for the Arts is a non-profit, performing arts and arts education organization, which is dedicated to inspiring and enriching the quality of life for Northeastern Ohioans. Beck Center professional theatre productions include a traditional yet diverse combination of musicals, dramas and comedies on two separate stages, serving more than 35,000 patrons each year.
A national search was undertaken to cast the roles of Billy and Michael, since there were no local boys with all the skills needed to play these challenging roles. The Beck Center received many recommendations from agents, and also many video tapes and interviews. From all these submissions they chose Seth Judice from Houston, Texas, to lead the Beck Center cast in the role of Billy. They also chose Maurice Kimball from Vancouver, Canada, to play Michael and be the Billy understudy. Maurice will play Billy at a few of the performances.
