The large cast which, because of Australian child labor laws, includes two complete child casts named after two mining towns in northern England – Maltby and Easington – is led by two young actor/dancers in the role of Billy: Fergus Paterson, who appeared in the role in a 2023 BETM production in Newcastle, and Mitchell Clement, who is debuting in the role of Billy in this production.
