Julián Cecilio made his debut as Billy in the Spanish production of BETM at the Nuevo Teatro Alcalá in Madrid. He was just the second Billy to debut in Madrid since the original six opened the show back in September 2017.
Julián’s involvement in BETM began when he auditioned for the show and impressed the audition panel enough that he was invited to begin training at the Billy Elliot School – a training school set up specifically to prepare potential Billys and Michaels.
Before debuting in the title role, Julián initially played the role of Tall Boy. His first performance in this role was on 9-Apr-2018. A few months later, and just a week before the production took a break in performances over the summer, Julián performed in the lead role for the very first time.
With his debut as Billy on 12-Jul-2018 Julián became the 8th actor in Spain and the 249th actor worldwide to play the role in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
