Miloslav Frýdl was 12 years old (D.O.B. = 27-Jun-2006) when he made his debut as Billy in the Czech production of BETM at the New Stage DJKT in Pilsen.
Although this will be his first leading role, Miloslav is no stranger to the stage, having appeared in many previous theatre productions. A couple of these were at the same theatre where BETM will be staged. His previous productions include:
- The Phantom of London (Hybernia Theatre)
- Sibyl, Queen of Sheba (Hybernia Theatre)
- Garden of Wonders (New Stage DJKT)
- The Snow Queen (Pixa-pro)
- The Full Monty (New Stage DJKT, May 2018)
- Queen Kapeska (Pixa-pro, Dec 2018)
Miloslav was cast in the lead role of Billy in Pilsen after a series of rigorous auditions. Training began in October 2018, and continued for the seven months leading up to the opening night. Talking about how he and fellow Billy, Šimon Fikar, have found the training, Miloslav said, “All of the testing was sometimes quite difficult for us. We had intensive training in ballet, jazz and tap dance combined with school.”
With his debut performance as Billy on 11-May-2019 Miloslav becomes the 268th young actor to play the role in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
