Pau Gimeno, who is from Barcelona, was 13 years old (D.O.B = 27-Jan-2004) when he made his debut as Billy Elliot in the first ever Spanish production of BETM at the Nuevo Teatro Alcalá in Madrid.
Pau first auditioned for the role of Billy in March 2016, and was one of 30 boys chosen to start training at the Billy Elliot School in Madrid. At the Billy School Pau was trained in all the skills he would need to play this most challenging role including ballet, tap, jazz, acting, singing and acrobatics. After a few months another cut was made, and Pau was successful in becoming one of the final 17 boys in line for the roles of Billy and Michael. Another year of intense training then followed.
On September 11, 2017 the six boys who would originate the role of Billy in Madrid were announced, including Pau.
Pau’s debut performance as Billy was on 23-Sep-2017. He was the second Billy to debut in Spain and the 221st young actor worldwide to play the role in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
