Ray Del Castillo was 13 years old (D.O.B. = 25-Sep-2004) when he made his debut as Billy in the Peruvian production of BETM at the Teatro Peruano Japonés in Lima.
Ray’s dance training has taken place at Raul Romero’s dance school and also at Escuela D1 in Lima.
Ray has some previous experience on stage including acting in Edipo Rey (Oedipus Rex) and in the musical Déjame que te cuente. He also has some film experience, having appeared in the family comedy Una Navidad en Verano in 2017.
Since being cast as Billy, and for almost a year now, Ray has been training and rehearsing in preparation for his debut — including taking ballet, tap, acrobatics, flying, singing and acting lessons. Ray says that it is important to follow your dreams, a feeling that he shares with the character he plays. “It does not matter if it’s ballet, swimming or whatever. How many really follow them despite what other people say?” he says.
