The 675 seat Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, CA will play host to a production of Billy Elliot The Musical (BETM) by All About Theatre from May 20 to June 4, 2016.
All About Theatre is a locally owned, community theatre company serving Santa Cruz County. Their aim is to provide quality theatre for people of all ages in Santa Cruz County. The organization provides a variety of education and performance opportunities for young people and also presents “main stage” productions they label “all ages”, that is age 8 to adults. BETM is one of the latter, and is significantly the 100th show produced by All About Theatre.
Auditions for BETM were held in late February and rehearsals began on 6-Mar-2016 for the large cast (by BETM Regional production standards) of 49. The cast will be led by two young men who will be debuting in the role of Billy with this production — Palmer Morrison and Kenny Takeshita.
