Harrison Smith was 12 years old when he debuted as Billy in the Gold Coast production of BETM. He is from Brisbane.
Harrison has been dancing since he was just five years old. Over the years he trained in a huge variety of dance styles including ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theatre and hip hop. He loves the challenge of learning new techniques and choreography, and is constantly seeking to improve his skills and technique.
In 2022, Harrison become a student at Dynamite Studios on the Gold Coast. This is a performing arts school where students complete their academic studies via an online program with supervision, and then they spend about half of each school day taking performing arts classes.
Harrison has competed in many dance competitions, both in groups and solos, and has won many awards, including for routines that he has choreographed himself.
When he’s not dancing or performing, Harrison enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and also loves to watch dance videos online to stay inspired. His dream is to one day become a professional dancer or choreographer and to inspire others with his passion and dedication.
Harrison is very excited to have been cast as Billy Elliot, as this is a dream role for him.
With his debut performance as Billy on the Star Gold Coast stage on 7-Jul-2023, Harrison becomes the 343rd young actor worldwide to play the role in a professional, regional or community theatre production of the musical.
