The Road Company will present Billy Elliot The Musical (BETM) at the Grand Theatre in Williamstown, NJ from Oct 19-Nov 4, 2017.
The Road Company Theater Group was founded in 1976. It is a professional quality theater company located in Williamstown, New Jersey. The group owns the Grand Theatre, built in 1924. This historic theater is being kept alive and continues to bring entertainment to the surrounding community as it did when it was first built.
The Road Company lists its mission: to entertain and enrich people by providing a venue for fostering the arts through creative expression, education, social interaction, and community development.
The organization prides itself on providing education to the many actors, directors, and technicians that hone their craft in their venue, especially including work with children — educating them in workshops, summer projects and full blown main stage productions. The organization considers itself a training theater in the true sense of the word. With each production, workshop, summer program, or outreach venture there is a constant teaching environment.
As mentioned earlier, the Grand Theatre was originally built in 1924 and has been the home for vaudeville shows, silent movies and feature films. The Road Company has called it home since 1989, and they went on to purchase the venue in April of 2008. But in May of 2010, the roof collapsed on the auditorium and stage.
The Grand reopened in 2013 with a brand new space and to rave reviews. The front lobby portion of the building was 100% refinished. The New Grand is a state of the art entertainment performance arts venue.
The cast of Billy Elliot The Musical being presented by The Road Company is headed by an actor new to the role of Billy. He’s Liam Redford.
