Phoenix Theatre presents a regional production of Billy Elliot The Musical (BETM) at their 375-seat Mainstage theater facility in Phoenix, Arizona, from November 16, 2016 to January 1, 2017.
Phoenix Theatre is the largest producing regional theatre company in the Valley of the Sun in Arizona. As would be suggested by its name, the theatre is located in Phoenix, the capital and largest city in the state of Arizona, with a population of over 1.5M people.
Phoenix Theatre, originally founded as the Phoenix Players in 1920, is the oldest arts organization in Arizona and remains one of the oldest operating arts organizations in the country. Operating in its existing building since 1952, with several major renovations and additions since, the organization is “at the center of an active arts complex serving its audiences by creating dynamic, professional productions while following its mission of educating and elevating the growing Phoenix artistic and cultural community.”
Billy Elliot The Musical is the second show of the organization’s Mainstage Theatre series for the 2016-17 season, a season which led off with In the Heights and will also include Twist Your Dickens, Baskerville, Bullets Over Broadway and Beehive, with each show averaging a month long run.
Two boys, both veterans in the title role having starred in previous regional productions of BETM, will head up the cast of the Phoenix Theatre production. They are Matthew Dean and Seth Judice.
